Update on Andrew
January is National Birth Defects Prevention
Month
Jan 2007
Andrew is doing well, growing up fast still getting his monthly Lupron shots and loving his time at Middle school.
Allergy Policy update: Well we found out totally by mistake when I got a call that Shane (my youngest who has an Epi-pen for his food allergies) would have to stay home from school for 2 days while a nurse would NOT be present at his Elem school. After looking into it farther we found out NO other person other then the school nurse is authorized (due to training) to administer the Epi-pen. This goes for ALL school in my district. Andrew's school and Shane's school. This makes me VERY nervous, although the schools say they would never allow anything to happen to the boys, I WANT and NEED other people other then the school nurse to be training in giving the Epi-pens to the boys. So Patrick had to go to the school Committee meeting this month to get an update on what was going on. I believe in my heart that someone is not telling the whole truth about this but how can I prove it and what can I do about it? NOTHING we will have to just bug and bug them until the Epi-pen certification is done in the schools and that at least (minimal) 5 teacher/staff have first aid, CPR and Epi-training done!
Thanks for reading--see ya soon!!!!
