This was taken in the recovery room after his reflux surgery (Dec 4th 97) Andrew was 2 yrs old
The pink thing Andrew is wearing around his chest is a harness, so that he wouldn't be able to roll onto his tummy during the night or try to stand up in the crib. Even his little feet were restrained. A foley catheter was placed before surgery and left in until a few hours before he got to go home. The incision was small and very low, it looked much like a C-section cut, and he had stitches that dissolved on their own. Those 2 days he had to stay laying flat on his back to avoid blood clots but then was able to stand. I had taken to the hospital a 6 hour tape of Barney for him to watch on the hospital VCR while there. Andrew was as happy as could be!!! Me? I was sick of Barney by the time we got home :) Andrew did NOT have a reaction to latex this time, the surgery was done totally latex free as all of his other surgeries were, but this time CH was well aware of it. He did very well with this surgery and got to come home two days after the surgery. We were VERY happy that he had done so well!
