Comments: I really enjoyed your site! It always helps me to know that there are other parents coping and truly enjoying their special children. I have an 8 year old daughter, Nia Lianne, with SB and Hydro. She is a wonderful child and I feel blessed to have her. She walks independently, self-caths, does very well in school and is a joy to be around. She has even become sort of a mentor to her other friends with SB; she gives them great advice! I would like to, however, find a mentor for her-a child her age or a little older for her to talk with as well. I am glad I found your site, and will visit often. Comments: Dear Susete, I was lucky to find your site via a link on a page I was on, suggesting a visit to your page. I am glad I did. I work in a pediatric hospital, and have had the wonderful opportunity to meet several wonderful children and parents who attend our Friday Spina Bifida Clinic. I am amazed how parents and children deal with issues of health, and have really learned a lot about what I thought were 'sad' situations....
I love where I work. So many people think it would be hard to work there, or sad etc., I think it's great. I don't see it as sad. Children are resiliant. They are so truthful and really have alot to teach the rest of us that think life is so awful! I hope Andrew is enjoying school. I plan on coming back to your site and checking it out for updates. Thank you so much for sharing!

Comments: Hi. I finally had a chance to view your site, and I have to say you've done a superb job. Also, Andrew is such a cutie. I'm serious, I love that picture of him at 5 or 7 months holding the trophies up. It's the best. You mentioned a lot of positive aspects concerning my site, but yours covers much more. It must have taken a lot of time putting it together. I am very familiar with a number of disabling conditions, tho SB is one I need to study up on, and because of your page I can do that easily now. During my college years I knew several guys/girls with SB, though I never researched it like I had with the other disabilities listed on my page. From the looks of it Andrew is going to come a long way, mostly because of the help coming from his 2 very supportive parents. I wish you luck. Please do stay in touch.

Comments: Hi Susete, this is a great page. I am the mother of a 13 year old boy with SB and Hydro. He has only had two shunt revisions in his life...one a 3 months old and and one when he was 12. He is a great child, my second son. We don't let his SB get in the way of his life. He loves to swim, go camping and boating. He even tried water sking this pas summer on a hydro chair. he had a great time. would love to hear from other parents with kids with SB. I have been there and done most every thing that a parent has with a SB child. My son has had 10 magor surgerys in his 13 years of life. He is a real trooper and has a great outlook on life. My husban and I feel that God blessed us with Chris. He was given to us for a reason, ad we feel he will have a great impact on the world in the future. Good luck to you and your family with Andrew. Comments: Actually, I was trying to find a school for my daughter. She has been attending University of Northridge to work toward a degree in Physical Therapy. But....she has been working on and off for a young woman, Mandy (now aged 22) who suffered major spinal injury in a car accident when she was 17 years old. She is now a quadrapoligic. Currently, she is working with Mandy in a state-of-the-art facility in New Jersey. My daughter has decided to change her major to Occupational Therapy. So.... she needs to find a new school in the So. Cal area...her husband works for NBC, and they don't want to relocate. Anyway...I love your website!
